Facebook buys Oculus, virtual reality headset for $2 billion.
Facebook bought WhatsApp for $19billion just month ago and now the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has decided to buy Oculus VR. Oculus VR is a firm that makes virtual reality headset for video gamers.
“Virtual reality was once a dream of science fiction. But, the internet was also once a dream, and so were computers and smartphones. The future is coming and we have to build it together.” Zuckerberg posted on Facebook.
Not any product by Oculus VR has shipped yet, but for the past one and half years, it has shown prototypes that a video gamer can wear a Oculus VR to view his or her field of virtual 3D environment.
Zuckerberg also mentioned in his post, “But, this is just the start. After games, we’re going to make Oculus a platform for many other experiences. Imagine enjoying a court side seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face-to-face--just by putting on goggles in your home”.

The company Oculus started in 2012, and it is growing on its pace. Oculus VR raised a little more than $2 million as initial capital through funding.  Oculus VR is a technology where gamers wear this head-mounted VR product and are thrust into 3D environment. The Rift uses custom head-tracking technology that allows users to look around the virtual just like they would in real world. Every movement of the head is tracked in real time to create a natural in-game experience.
