After Independence India has become the Republic Democratic country to have many states, many languages, second largest population in the world and seventh largest country in the world, which makes India the largest Democratic country in the world. It has state wise administrations, After formation of Telangana (Officially announced to be formed on 1st June), India will have the 29 states.1947 to till date India have Fourteen women chief minister who have served the post in Indian States. Soon after Independence Mrs. Sucheta Kriplani was the First Woman Chief Minister in India in the State Utter Pradesh.
At present there are three in office—Jayalalithaa Vasundhara Raje and Mamata Banerjee, Of the eleven states which have headed by a female chief minister. Delhi had two CMs. Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh—also have had two.
In the Republic of India, a chief minister is the head of government of states level in each of twenty-eight states (As compare-PM in the center)and two union territories (Delhi and Puducherry). Constitution of India says that at the state-level, the governor is the head, but de facto executive authority is the chief minister. The governor usually invites, after the elections, the party (or coalition) with a majority of seats elected to form the government. The chief minister is appointed by the governor. The chief minister term is for five years.
