Google Android TV

Google has recently co-developed a smart TV called Google TV with Intel, Sony, and Logitech. It was launched in October 2010 with initial devices installed by Sony and Logitech. For a smart TV experience, Google TV has integrated the Android operating system with Google Chrome web browser to create an interactive television, along with the existing internet television and WebTV sites.  In October 2013, reports suggested that Google will stop using Google TV label and all new devices will be rebranded as Android TV.

First generation of Google TV’s devices were based on x86 architecture processors by Intel and commercialized by Logitech and Sony. Second generation of devices were based on ARM architecture processors, including extra partners such as LG, Samsung, Vizio.

Features-
Google TV allows consumers to access HBO, CNBC, and content from other providers through the Chrome browser. This type of TV can be controlled thru Android and Apple smartphones as well as tablet computers. A new update allowed access to Google Play and provided search to find content from live TV, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon, HBO etc.
