Windows 98 (codenamed Memphis) is a graphical operating system Developed by Microsoft. It was the second major release in the Windows 9x line of operating systems.
On June 16, 1996 the Very early beta of Windows 98 which was basically Windows 95 with small differences also termed Windows Memphis Pre-Alpha came in existence.
On June 30, 1997 the First beta of Windows Memphis Beta was completed.
On December 15, 1997 The first build from upgrade of Windows 3.1x happened with Introduction of new startup and shutdown sounds. of Windows 98 Beta 3.

April 3, 1998 the Windows 98 Beta 3 was developed.
On May 15, 1998 it was released to manufacturing and to retail for general public it was released on June 25, 1998.
Its License was of Commercial software category and it was the successor to Windows 95. Window 95 was the First OS by Microsoft in 1995 of a hybrid 16-bit/32-bit[2] monolithic product with an MS-DOS based boot stage. Later Windows 98 was succeeded by its own upgrade of Windows 98 Second Edition on May 5, 1999, then by Windows ME (Millennium Edition) was released on September 14, 2000. The Window 98 second edition had version 4.10 build 2222 A  on May 5, 1999; 15 years ago. Microsoft finally ended support for Windows 98, 98 SE, and ME on July 11, 2006. so the present status of the Support status is
"Unsupported" since July 11, 2006.
