Intel India Rs 5.7 lakh PhD fellowship |
The comapny press release says that the Intel PhD sponsorship programme will give research opportunities to the students in pioneer technology and a platform for sharing industry knowledge for the end use of the technology.
Rs 5.7 lakh would be given to the selected candidates for a period of up to four years which will includes stipend, contingency research and a travel grant to attend conferences and research forums.
It is part of Intel's higher education plans and this will be available to the eligible students from the academic year starting July 2014.
In the early 1990s globally, the fellowship programme was started by Intel co-founder Gordon Moore with a motive to recognise and honour the students in pioneering research of all areas that would benefit humankind.
Intel India will share details with selected technology institutions of research areas, application process and fellowship benefits in order to nominate deserving PhD candidates for the fellowship to the Intel company. Then a research committee at Intel will evaluate candidates on the basis of set evaluation patteren to grant fellowship to the students.
This higher education fellowship programme of the comapny will be reaching more than 235,000 students and 4,500 faculties across 550 institutions in India. It will be bridging the gap between academia and industry standards and will be promoting innovation and entrepreneurship among the students.
